About the Certified Welding Supervisor Seminar
The Certified Welding Supervisor seminar was developed to teach individuals the mastery that welding supervisors must be capable of demonstrating. This five-day course focuses on the knowledge a supervisor needs to support improvement of the welders' environment, productivity, throughput, weld quality and safety. Participants will learn the science rather than the art of welding for a better control of variables in the welding process. This program focuses on the economics of welding and is the first AWS program designed to enhance the profit margins of welding fabrication companies.

recommend that any
business that has visions of reducing their cost of welding should
seriously consider sending their key welding people to the CWS training
offered by AWS and incorporating them into their company processes.
Quality welds are essential, but economically produced welds keeps one

who manages, designs, estimates, plans, purchases, inspects and

improving quality; all the while increasing productivity by reducing
arc time per unit length reducing motion and delay reducing
defects (rework) and reducing work effort.
a young man in the
business side of industry with little actual welding experience, the
course itself was a perfect blend of welding fundamentals and
economic/mathematical calculations for budgets and planning.
With the support of management, we were able to realize both the labor
and material savings opportunities that result just from looking at
welding operations. They will have ability to change the corporate
fabric to accomplish those savings; changes a foreman or line manager
would have a hard time doing alone. By taking the CWS course together,
all levels of management can accomplish a substantial cost savings.
CWS Course has made
look at welding in a different mindset; it is no longer just another
part of the manufacturing process, but it can turn a money-making job
into a losing venture, not only with money spent but with time lost.
The 'more weld is better' attitude doesn't work anymore. As a Quality
Assurance Inspector, I feel more at ease in identifying what is
acceptable and what is overkill, and with the CWS course as my guide, I
feel more comfortable talking to a welder and offering him different
solutions to combat over welding.
my CWS training, I
help my company better meet deadlines and budgets by better educating
those that can make the difference, the welders themselves. I have
received numerous thank you's from the welders I talk to by taking the
time to offer them advice, looking at their welding as a benefit to the
company and not just a necessary part of manufacturing, and helping
them to better the job that they do, no matter where they work. All in
all, the CWS Course has made me a better welding inspector and a better
