The shorthood machine was warrantied for 1.5 years.. When you spend 4700 on a 1948 and then let it be put on a sled down the right of way..others don't love your investment as much as you do.. I really liked k & j L.... it really broke my heart to do this...
I never speak bad of 798, engineers yes, common workin man NO!
The shorthood you speak of was rebuilt in 2008. 8 months later (May 2009) when in PA, the starter failed to retract and was shooting sparks out of the Gen housing while sled mounted on the right of way. I paid to get it to my shop and warrantied it, completely checked it out. It wasn't until April 2010 when we were calling to get money on her bill or we were selling the machine, that all the sudden the Shorthood is crap and we suck, etc, etc, etc.
This machine was ok'd by K to start on in Aug 2009, but advised us to go slow so payments could be made. It was finished Jan 2010, and only with a very heavy heart put up for sale 6 months later.
