I just found out today I passed my CWI exam I took last Friday. I attended a 2 week course at the Hobart Institute of Welding Technology at Troy, OH. My instructor was Elmer Swank. I would reccomend this course to anyone looking for an CWI prep course. The 2 weeks made the study needed to pass all three tests easy, the practice exams they give are excellant tools for learning what you need to know and get used to the time limits.

Good job on passing.  It seems you were there the same time I was.  I was taking the Mag/Particle - Liquid Penetrant class.  I also took the 2 week CWI course there and feel it was well worth the money.

Congrats Scrappy.  It's a whole new world waiting for you now.  It has really helped me in many ways.  I'm getting closer to just doing the inspections and walking away from the shop fabrication.  But it has really helped to improve the shop work I do around here as well.

Have a Great Day,  Brent

I also was in the same class as scrappywelds and highly recommend anyone looking to take the CWI exam look into the Hobart CWI prep course. Elmer is an excellent instructor. I also passed with very little studying prior to attending the course.

Congrats guys, I think that a big % of people out there that have there CWI went to Hobarts. I went in 08, and found it most helpfull in obtaining mine. Plus that mom and pop pizza place was good, cheap, and easy to find. LoL

Congratulations gentlemen, I have recently taken and was successful in passing my SCWI exam this past month in Miami. This is my second time having my SCWI, the first was in 1999 and I had to let it expire in 2006 because of my inactivity in the welding industry. Does anyone know of anyone doing any training seminars for the SCWI exam? This would be great help as it was the first time I went through the program when AWS offered a SCWI seminar. I think that it would interest more CWI’s that want to go that next step and take the SCWI exam. Thank you in advance for your reply.

These folks are in Pascagoula, MS and are well respected in the industry and recommended by friends of mine.
I plan on taking some classes there next year when I finish my current gig.
