I guess it is fine if you are plumbing up the columns.

I was thinking you'all aren't soldering H beams are you?

Hahahaha...I wouldn't want to be near any soldered beams.

I think Al was talking about installing piping on columns.
Certified structural welding is different than plumbing certification.

Do you the job you would be doing?

Yes, it can be roughly done by means of a device called "plumb bob" or more exactly carried out by means of a theodolite. Right Al?
Warning! The weight of the plumb bob should be sunk into a bucket containing water so the plumb bob string won't swing because of the wind.

Giovanni, you hit the nail square on the head!

We use a "Bazooka Bob" for the job of plumbing up columns during steel erection. It consists of an extendable aluminum tube with the plumb bob enclosed within the 10 foot tube to protect it from the wind. There is no need for a bucket of water or light oil. However, when plumbing multiple stories, the plumb bob and bucket of water works very nicely.

The “Bazooka Bob” is manufactured in Pennsylvania if I remember correctly.

Best regards - Al
