Im a beginner with a Millermatic 175. It comes with a 50amp 220 pigtail. I don't have room in my box for 50amps and upgrading my service would be very expensive.
I have been told that running the welder off my 30amp dryer outlet is safe if I make the proper extension cord.
The house in quite new, 1996, up to code.
Is running off of 30 amps and an extension cord adviseable?
This would only be for light duty, once in a while home projects, 1/4" or less mild steel.
Thanks in advance.
