Up Topic Welding Industry / Technical Discussions / WPQR QUALIFICATION OF FILLET WELD WITH IMPACT REQUIREMENT
- - By GOPI DELLNER Date 08-02-2019 04:13
Hi Guys,

I have a new project where the Weld design is of a Fillet (Pipe to Attachment plate). The design engineer has given an additional requirement of Impact 27Joules @ -40 degrees. Now for welding the material I will be using the filler wire qualified for -40 or below temperature.

But my concern is that even though predominant joints are fillet only, due to the impact requirement mentioned in the drawing, do we need to qualify a butt joint WPQR with impact testing results??

Also the grades in the drawing are S355J2 & E460K2. Will we able to achieve 27 joules @ -40 degrees for these grades at HAZ samples????
