Guyz, I have a job as follows: 2 Large plates measuring 15.7feet x 9.51feet x 9.8" thick that needs to be welded together. The weight of the job is around 52 tons. Material is carbon steel. Welding length is 15.7feet. I believe submerged arc is the way to go. Can you enlighten me on what is the best process and how to go about this job, welding wires, wires size, words of caution, etc. etc. Thanks in advance.

You may wish to do some research on Electroslag welding.  I believe that for welds of the size you are considering, it is without question the most efficient process.  Have a look:  http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&lr=&q=electroslag%20welding&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wi
