I need suggestions on purchasing a decent tong ammeter, I don't need it for all the fancy electrician stuff, just want to test welding voltage/current, you guys know what I'm talking about.  Can I get something decent for around $150, I don't want trash, it needs to be able to take a bit of a beating.

try Fluke 363 -600 amp/volt with digital read-out. I get mine calibrated yearly and it seem pretty tough I drop or knock it off off tables regularly and it keeps on working going on 4 years with the same set.

I have a Fluke 36, an older, obsolete version of this Fluke so I recommend it also.

I also use a fluke model 336.  It is 600A AC/DC.  Fluke is very durable but a bit pricey.  This model was closer to $250.  I am sure you can find one without all the bells and whistles that will do what you need for less.

Hey Duke!

Compare this one to the Flukes that have been suggested and see which one gives you more towards what you're looking for...

Here's one supplier that's reliable with very reasonable prices or you can buy direct if you wish:

Either way they're both excellent brands of equipment and of course, I've used both with great results either way!!! Good Luck in your choice!!!

Respectfully,
Henry
