I have a PQR qualified in P. no. 4 Gr. 1 to P.no 4 Gr. 1. for GTAW + SMAW

Based on that client has Approved one WPS for P. no. 1 Gr. 2 to P.no 4 Gr 1 in GTAW + SMAW.

It is possible only as per QW-403.12 for melt-in technique.

Is GTAW / SMAW belongs to melt-in techniquie.

aditya,

this summer i had the same situation, i prepared WPSs from two PQRs,  1(1)-1(3) and 4(1)-4(1)

in Sec. IX QW-256 and 253 indicates essential supplementary and non essential variables for GTAW / SMAW process.

QW-403.5 for group number
QW-403.11 for p number.

in QW-403.11 sends you to QW-424, you will see p4 to p4 base material qualifies p4 to p4 or p3 or p1 (up to here no problem )
in QW-403.5 it says simply, when base metals of two different P-number group number combinations are qualified using a single test coupon, that coupon qualifies the welding of those two p-number group numbers to themselves as well as to each other using the variables qualified.

i can say, to write that wps you need group number 1 to 2 or group number 1-3  p number 1 or group number 1 to 2 p-number 4 PQR

regards,
T.
