I'm getting ready to qualify a procedure and was wondering if there was an icluded angle i could use to qualify all the bevel angles on these trucks?
I'm joining 2 piecs of A-572 1" plate with ER80S-D2 wire to knock out all my Matl group 2 procedures.  Still have a 100 or so more to write and was wondering about the note that says"The groove shaped tested shall conform to the production groove shape thats is being qualified." Well, there are multiple groove angles on these trucks so what do i do? Thanks Kix..

I'm looking at section 4 of D1.1 2006

Table 4.5
PQR Essential Variable Changes Reqiring WPS Requalification for SMAW, SAW, GMAW, FCAW and GTAW

33) A change exceeding the tolerance of 3.12,  3.13,  3.14,  5.22.4.1, 5.22.4.2.....  including
a) A decrease in the groove angle
b) A decrease in the root opening
c) an increase in the root face.

So for example looking at 3.12 which refers to figure 3.4,  your bevel tollerance (a) would be +10 degrees  -0...

I don't see a one size fits all bevel situation.......But a 45 degree bevel would qualify all the way to 55 degrees.

Now are those just bevel angles you are stateing or are those included angles?

Those angles (a) (referenced in the code) are included angles.

For example  look at Figure 3.4 B-U2a-GF  You can see the groove angle (a) depends on root opening and at the top of the drawing is a detail box for tollerances that provided guidence for "as detailed" and "as fit-up" dimensions
