i am interested in its properties because of its use i found on a jobsite
it is supposedly being used in a boiler but it does not seem suitable

304H is a high carbon grade, the range is 0.040 to 0.080 wt% if I remember right.  The higher carbon improves resistance to creep damage at high temperatures (around 1000 F to 1100 F for typical boiler SH or RH temps).  It is sometimes used in the superheater and reheater sections.

it is being used for baffling between the boiler tubes
and it seems to have taken enough heat
the baffles had cracked and after some small repairs it began to crack nearest the welds
one plate cracked rightdown the center
and the original welds that were on it had cracks right on the toe of each stitch

Do you kow what filler rod was used to stitch weld this?
