Up Topic Welding Industry / General Welding Discussion / slip roller brands?

Once again I return to the world of experts to ask for advice! I need to buy a manual slip roller that can handle 14 g. I know most rollers rated at 16g will easliy work a narrow section of sheet metal for the bends I need. My confusion is the huge range of prices amongst the brands available on the market. The Jet model with stand runs about $2000. The Dreis & Krump runs $2300. And the Knut, which includes a taper feature, runs $3290. I am totally perlexed as I have never used any of these brands. The Knut looks most user freindly, but at that price it should make me breakfast. I would appreciate any insight you can offer.

Thanks,
Artgirl

PS I finally got a website up since I last visited here. See www.bhtsculpture.com to view my work.

I have no opinion about slip rollers,  I do have an opinion about your work and it is that you really capture the dynamics of the critters you sculpt.

Would something like this do? It's way cheaper, doesn't say a gauge but i'm guessing that may largely depend on the size of the dude (or dudette) cranking the handle.

You might want to read the thread "ladies" in off topic.

To add to the info Bill provided, these folks seem to have a wider range of prices and sizes (and better prices on the brands you mention). http://www.americanmachinetools.com/bending_rolls.htm

I also really enjoy your work! Keep it up!
