Hello Monsoon12. I believe you are refering to the Miller Bluestar 185/185 DX model.I also own one and have it mounted to a whellbarrow type system for portability.(ued to be mounted on a trailer). I have used it quite a bit now without a ground from that little stud-n-nut thingy, with no problems whatsoever. Its most likly a manufacturer "cover our a$$" thing more than anything.I wouldnt worry about it.

Had it about 2 years. Its great for alot of things.I have a Bobcat 250 mounted on a trailer, but alot of times I need to get into backyards and tight spots and I use the Bluestar. I only run 50' leads on the bobcat and I sometimes cant reach. The 6000 runs up to 5/32 rod no problem.Havent tried anything bigger with it.Duty cycle is just fine for most all your 1/8" applications.100-135 amps. I changed the oil to full synthetic at 75 hours.I made my own lift-eye set up with lead holders that are incorperated into it also.(50' #2). Good luck.
