Hi to All,

I just received a Speedglas XL helmet from my neighbor who just retired from the railroad.  It works great.  I know nothing about it.  Is it of good quality? How old might it be?
Any special care I should give it?

Thanks,
Jack

Hornel Speed glass. One of the best on the market for my money. I have bought one for each one of my welders (no complaints to date). The earlier ones were even better (smaller & lighter) than the new ones but the new lenses are better.

Put it in your will. Those are great helmets.I have been meaning to get a speedglass for years but am such a "Hebrew",that I cant part with the dough. They do make an inexpensive one with a fixed shade now,but I want the top of the line model. I also think there the best looking helmets on the market. "2001-space odessy".

When I compare my inexpensive helmet and the Speedglas I can sure see the difference in the amount of time it takes to darken after I strike the arc.
