Morning everyone,
Can anybody tell me if there is a separate acceptance criteria for TOFD or is it the basic UT acceptance criteria.
Looking specifically for API 650 tanks,

2004 API 620
5.26.1 excerpt:
"The UT acceptance criteria provided in Appendix
U are based on fracture mechanics and assume that any flaw may
have crack-like characteristics."

U3.6 addresses TOFD and does not differentiate between other processes except to note the limitations of the process.

Acceptance criteria is based on three tables in 620 based on thickness of the weld, upper bound height, sized height, and length.

I don't have a current 650 but I would be surprised if there is any real difference.

Thanks Gerald,
I managed to find Appendix U in API 620.
I only have access to API 650 2001 which does not mention TOFD at all.
Even manual UT is only mentioned as " Acceptance standards to be agreed on between purchaser and manufacturer".
If anyone has access to a later version of API 650 could they please let me know if TOFD is mentioned.
