In one of our project, a client had commented that heat input was not addressed in WPS (ASME code) sumitted.
I would like to know more on heat input during welding.
1) Can someone advise what is the formula use to caculate the heat input.
2) On the WPS, which section should the heat input be placed. QW-409?
3) How does the value of heat input affect welded joints.
4) Is there a recommended range for heat input when welding with GTAW process on stainless steel?

Regards,
Boon

I would recommend searching Heat Input in the forum, there are a myriad of topics with answers to your questions and a lot more.

Cheers

Eutectic is right. There is so much being asked in your post that a search of the site would do well to answer many of your questions. Then you could return with more specificity.
