I need to run a procedure test on 4" sched. 40 304 SS pipe. I have to use 3/32 308LT1-5 tig wire for the root. The rest is straight 308 tig wire to fill up the joint. I've only used the flux cored wire once before ( not very sucessfully ). I'm running straight polarity straight argon. I'd appreciate any help and advice on how best to run the FC wire. Thanks in advance, Lloyd

Lloyd,
FCAW TIG wire, strictly in my opinon, should be used as a last resort. Corrosion test have shown that it produces "less than desirable" results. It is just hard to replace an inert gas as the shielding with a flux coated TIG wire. I, personally, have found that Solar Flux to be equally, or better,  in most circumstances. I guess the circumstances dictate the use of any welding process, though. Again, this is my opinion.
