I am welding two parts of the above named materials together.  Which AWS spec should be followed?

What is the application and is there a project specification involved?

The application is an automotive spring hanger (23000 lb rated axle).  The weld won't actually be carrying any of the spring load.  I'm attaching a separate bracket to the hanger.

No spec that I know of.

Thanks

Any taker's on this one?

Mike, have you looked though the AWS list of publications to see if they have anything on "light" truck frames?

I don't recall anything at this time, but it might be worth checking.

I would think seriously about making a seperate bracket that didn't involve the spring hanger, but atached to the frame web directly.

The bracket can't be mounted to the frame.  It is part of an alignment feature for the suspension.  I have searched the AWS list for "cast" and came back with 7 results.  I didn't see any that looked like they would apply for this application.
