Can someone advise suitable filler to use for GTAW process for fillet joint between AISI 904L and AISI 316L pipes.

Normally, an ER385 is used to weld 904L, but the slight possibility of hot cracking will exist, slight but not real likely. Or, you can use a 309LMo to even lessen the possibility of hot cracking. Your choice to decide.

Chuck,
is AISI 904L the same alloy that years ago was known as Uddeholm 904L?
Thanks for the reply.

Giovanni,
To be honest, I've never heard it called anything but ASTM 904L. Of course, that doesn't mean that Uddeholm didn't call their product "Uddeholm 904L". I would only imagine they would be the same thing, though.

Thank you for your information.
I have taken on new responsibilties relating to welding, inspection etc. for the past few months. With self study, I realise that the coverage for welding is very wide and much to learn.
Checking through the material grouping in QW/QB-422, could not find listing for AISI 904L materials. Is this an uncommon grade and where can we find these materials in actual applications.

In QW/QB-422 Nonferrous P-Numbers and S-Numbers, it is listed as Spec. No. SB-625, and UNS No. N08904.

904L is actually quite common, having been around awhile. Though I believe not as common as it used to be simply because newer alloys have infringed upon its traditional applications. The weld procedures are well developed.
It was originally developed for reducing acids, specifically sulphuric, hence the high nickel content.
