Has anybody used either one of these machines and if so what is your opinion of them? I would be interested in how the ranger 250 compares to a miller trailblazer 280. The Maxstar 140 would be used mostly for Tig welding and 1/8 6010, 3/32" 7018 stick welding, but would like to know if the machine has to the power to run a 1/8" low hydrogen with decent results. Thanks for any help you may be able to provide.

Actually, the Ranger (in fact all of Lincoln's equipment) come with the industry standard three year warranty..
The Ranger 250- with the patented CHOPPER technology, produces some excellent arc characteristics at all voltages/amperages. The adjustable crisp/soft settings are extremely helpful when welding with 7018 or 6010. Arc control is very nice and stable, due in a great deal to the chopper tech. (basically takes the output and chops it up to produce higher frequency) similar to what an inverter does. My personal preference is the Ranger 250. but that's just my opinion

Maxstar is great. Super smooth. Surerior on E6010 and low hydrogen.
100% duty cycle.

There are a couple of draw backs to the Ranger 250. One is that it has 4 main control boards that have been failing in the field and are expensive to replace. Even when covered by warrenty down time cost money. Two duty cycle is rated at 86 degrees. At higher temps the machines output will start to go down infact at 104 degrees it only has 5.7 kW of output. The Trailblazer is rated at 280 amps at 104 degrees. This is something that most people do not know.
