Could someone tell me the optimum method of cladding the inside of vessels with Inconel?

Is this a new vessel or one that has seen service?

Is there access for automated or mechanized equipment?

Is wall papering an option.

Is operation positive or negative pressure??

Pressure swings.

What is the service environment?

How big is the thing?

Dirk,
It is a new vessel, 6 feet diameter and will be operating at 350 psi. I cannot give details regrding sevice, only that inconel has been specified. Grade has not been determined at this time. I am only involved at the estimating stage and obviously if it goes any further, then more details will be forthcoming.

Regrds,

Willie

Isn't ammonia put together at 350psi? Or it might be atm. Check if the tank is being heated as well as pressurised.

John

Try one of these :

(1) for large surfaces : electroslag strip cladding (high deposition rates and almost no dilution, deposition 1 or 2 layers possible) or submerged arc strip cladding (high deposition rates, more penetration, less thickness)

(2) for nozzles : GMAW

Check out the specifications : what is the desired thickness of the cladding and what about the mechanical or chemical properties at the surface and below the surface !!!
