hello everybody. im an electrician by trade so i have an unlimited access to all sizes of emt and benders for it. i was wondering if anybody has ever made an exhaust out of emt? since it is galvanized would it help it or hurt it? also could i use compression couplings or would i have exhaust leaks. the comp. couplings say they are water tight. any info will help thanks-robert

I think EMT is probably a little thicker than alot of exhaust tubing, galvanizing should help with the rust/corosion issues. Good custom aftermarket exhaust systems are often stainless, EMT wont hold up as well as that. I have no ideas about the compression couplers.

i would be using gtaw to weld the EMT. would the galvanizing present a problem? also would the hot exhaust gases burn it off?
