Up Topic Welding Industry / Technical Discussions / Tig rod for WPS as per D1.1
- - By hung7601 (*) Date 07-30-2007 11:22
Any one can advise or correct me about this issue: I have WPS qualified per D1.1, process of TIG+SMAW+SAW
The tig rod in wps is ER70S-6, but the actual tig rods purchased are ER70S-G; I check as per table 4.5, if change from one electrode classification to any other electrode classification will required requalify WPS.
in this case it means I can not use the electrode ER70S-G?

Thanks in advance

Hung,

Here is the deal on ER70S-G;

You must be wary about substituting it for ER70S-6 because the ER70S-G filler has no restrictions on chemistry and one vendors version of ER70S-G may be very much different from another vendors version of ER70S-G

Filler wire change is an essencial variable and the substitution you have outlined above appears to be a filler wire change demanding requalificaiton.
