I have another project welding stainless, this time it is T-302 spring steel tempered. The material is 3/16" round, straight not bent like a spring, and there are two types of joints involved. One is a lap joint with 2 pieces side by side overlaping a couple inches, the other is an intersection where 2 pieces cross each other at 90 degrees. I hope to perform the first weld using MIG process and the second weld using resistance welding. My question is due to the spring temper do I need any special preheat, postheat, etc, or can I weld it without any special concerns/treatments?
Thanks,

I am pretty sure the matertial got it's temper from work hardening, and expect that the heated areas won't be at spring temper after welding. Will that be a problem? I think it wil weld OK, but there are others here with more experience than I have.
