what is a safe way to remove galvanize ? a fellow gave me a 50 gallon water tank, and i thought about making a smoker/cooker. but can't with this tank because of the galvanize. so before getting rid of the tank, is there a safe way to remove the galvanize and use it for a smoker and not kill someone ?

Thanks for any replies:

Some galvanizing is really tough and even after grinding it off when you weld it you can still smell and see it...like it soaks into the metal..I would not personally recommend trying to make a smoker out of it.

I personally would not use any kind of galv parts for a grill, but if your gonna be welding any galv take some wd40 and spray it on a grinding disc and watch the magic. work when grinding it off.
