I have been in the trade for 42 years and have yet to find a better scribe or circle marker, to use layout work, than the ones that I built when I was 19. They are the tools that the old timers used when I first got into the trade. They are simple and have lasted for all of this time without repair. I also have a torch attachment that allows very accurate circles. (Within a 1/16") Do you think I would have a market for these tools if I made up a bunch. It would be a good retirement project.

I think you would have a small market.  If you had to mass produce, it probably wouldn't be a "Retirement Project"
