Hello
Is there anyone out there willing to share a copy of a manual on the airco dip-pak 200 mig unit?  I bought one and would like to learn more about the 60% duty cycle on it.
thanks
Frank

I don't have a way to scan the manual, but I can look up specific info for You. The amperage at 60% duty cycle is 200 amps at 28 volts, at 250 amps it is a little shy of 40%, about 38%? at a little less than 300 amps, the duty cycle is a little under 30%, that is as far as the table goes. 100% duty cycle looks to be about 160 amps. I use .035" 70s-6 wire & C25 for steel and argon and .035 & .047 4043 or 5356 for aluminum with a Miget spool gun. This unit works well and doesn't give Me any grief.

Dave,
thanks for the response.  Is your machine a dip-pak 200?  I didn't know the 200 would output 300 amps.  I just had to replace the capicators in mine.  I needed the info you gave me on duty cycles.  Does your book havae a schematic in it?   Can you tell me how the control settings relate to the different amperages?  There are three power range settings(low, med and high); then there are settings of 1 through 8 within those threee settings with the other control.  this would give 24 different amperage settings.  I know that is a lot of writing for you  But it would be helpful to have those.
Many thanks,   Frank

Frank, I have a Dip Pak 200, it is a red one, that makes it pretty late in the production run. It has the Euro gun connection. The settings are voltage settings, in MIG amperage depends on wire size and wire speed. The chart You really need shows the settings for wire size and material thickness, There was a chart inside the door where You put the wire spool in when the machine was new. Dip transfer always uses low and medium range settings for wire from .025-.045. For instance using .035 solid wire 16 GA [about 1/16"] material requires #7 on the fine controll, Low on the range controll and 2.7 on the wire speed controll. 10 GA settings are 3, Med & 4.1 and for 1/4" material 7, Med & 5.5 all with .035 wire. These machines were built by Esab, I don't know if they can give You any information or not.

Mine too is a dip-pak 200.  I am trying to weld 1/2"  and 1/8"aluminum.
The chart is gone from my door.

The chart is only for steel. I use 4043 wire if I can, and have pretty good luck with the 3/64", but the .035 is real nice on thinner material. I use a 50' MIGET spoolgun. The coarse voltage ajustment should be in the medium range. I find I have the best results a little below spray transfer, and use 100% argon. When I use 5356 there is smoke and sputterballs, I am told this is pretty common, the welds come out OK, but it doesn't seem right. If You are trying to push wire through the normal MIG gun, You should install the teflon liner, and use as thick a wire as You can. Using a short gun conduit and keeping it strate will help.
