Hello, I've been working with sch80 sch40 mild/carbon steels all position for a while.
I'm looking for some photos/links of SS butt welds (non-passivated): of root pass, and
finished cap pass(es) when the top of the groove is more than 1" wide (heavy wall pipe).

Besides feather edging and purging the inside, what are some of the procedures for the outside.
To not increase heat input, I imagine some intermediate & cap pass(es) would have to be stringers, & no weaving?
Also how should a finished ss socket weld look like?
