For the longest time I have known that if two sockets are too close in proximity to each other they must be bridge welded or "buttered up". The problem that I have is that there is no requirement for this other than old shipyard procedures. Where does this design requirement come from originally? Is it an engineering requirement? Is it an inspection requirement?
