Who all on here has experence with this welder, (200 D Pipe liner) I just got mine last week . I've been running a sa200 red face untill now. Im have a time getting use to the way the 200d welds, It has this custom arc thing that slows or speeds up the rpms by (150). Im running 6" pipe  W/1/8 rods for root & HP, Fill & cap w/ 5/32. IT just dose'nt stack the way my red face will. Im shure I just need to burns some rods with to find the sweet spot . Any tips would be helpful with understanding this custom arc adjustment. Downhand are you out here I know you have one , What do you think of yours ? Did it take you a while to get use to it?

i have a 300d and some of the guys i have talked to when i got my welder to turn the custum welder nob to 0 unless you are welding on heavy steel.  i did it and it still welds somewhat different.  i had a 79 welder for a long time

lately I've been fabbing heavy wall so I keep it wide open on the idle adjustment seems to smooth it out a bit. 7 is about 1550rpm like your sa200 and 0 is 1450 like an old stubby(shorthood) I haven't had the chance to try mine on mainline cause I've been building rigs all summer but a friend of mine who had one last year on a big inch job with me kept his maxxed out all the time. rule of thumb would be to turn it down if you want it to stack. later

Im really tring to like this 200D I paid 10,800.00 out the door . Lincoln says it the same as the old 200g I say bull.  Im going to be on a big pipeline up north soon. Im hope to run in to some 798ers that know how to tweek them or some thing because its just not right. Ive let two welders weld with it also and thay dont like it.

This 798er recommends not to put on your high side -- keep it on the 190 range - try running the bead on about 30 with a 5/32 rod and 65 for a 3/16--- if that doesn't feel right you might try turning your rpms down from 1800 to about 1500 RPM - use a volt meter to test electric plug - I have found 130v too high try 115v.  This may help --- it's worth a try ---

Where are you headed up north - I might know someone up that way that can help you out...........

I will be going to Minnesota, I dont know who the contractor is yet.  Its for 798 , I have to finish the job that Im on first , I will be here in florida for 3 or 3 weeks running a gas line for 798 .  When you were talking about turning down the RPM to 1500 would I do that with the ocv knob and I could tell if its right with the meter at 115v at the electric plug. Also what are you setting yours at to cap w/ 5/32  & 3/16. I asume you are welding with the 200D pipliner too.

No don't have a 200d - I'm using a 300D - but they are close enough -
If you have the OCV then use it -- put it on high idle ---- and not below 115v at the plug ---
if no OCV see raftergweldings post on sa 200 with no soul --- Shad explains the process well - just use my settings ----
I run the cap between 65-70.... Hope this helps............

What our shop has seen on the 200D's and 300's is the bearing seizes up in the pocket of the bracket. If your machine is going to have this problem you will hear an irritating whine for several hours before it seizes. We have also seen a lot of problems withthese machines and the Kubota engine 'surging up and down'. We have worked with the Kubota on fixing the problem. It is either on the the following:
-faulty ground connection on the engine end at any of the 3 ground connections
-improper motor oil being used and gumming up the solenoids.

I've been having problems with my 200d Kubota pipeliner. When I 1st got it it had 1200 hours on it, it welded awesome it stacked really good and dug really good had a crisp arc. Now my arc is really weak I'm at 3100 hours with it it doesn't dig it doesn't stack the arc don't push the pulled isn't shaped like a candle flame the top of my puddle the Slag is trying to roll into my metal. I don't no what to do I put new main brushes and exciter  brushes and it still welds like trash any suggestions on what could cause this?
