I would like to know if there is a easy way to pre-heat a steel plate or cylunder for a Sumerged weld procedure...the idea is to pre heat and weld continuosly..Any idea regards..

Hello ga3027, I would say it depends on the exact situation that you are fabricating under and the exact items that you are welding. You are probably already aware of induction heating processes that can be used in either a mobile or fixed type of set-up for attaining and maintaining preheats, interpass temps, and postheats, these may be one method that would work for you. Another, might be to set-up rosebuds in some manner, form, or fashion to provide the necessary preheats, etc., however, these would be more difficult to monitor and control relative to exact temperatures. Some form of a preheat/holding oven might be possible, providing size variances and other things don't preclude this option, here again this option would ensure a more even and controllable temperature. If you could include a bit more information the folks on the forum may have some more specific recommendations to help you with your situation. Best regards, aevald

Check w/Miller Induction Heating group. Fast and able to weld with the heat on. Forget the flames.
