For DC scratch start just put a tig torch on it and go to town. You can get torches with a built in gas valve. For AC or HF starting on DC You will need a High Frequency box. These come up every week or two on eBay. What You don't get with a bux box conversion is the ability to start/stop the power and change amperage while welding with a foot pedal or torch mounted controll. For not much more money than You will have into a Hi Freq box You could buy an old Miller 330 A B/P or a Lincoln 300/300 and have a REAL TIG machine.
