Hi All,
New to the forum. Thanks for any help.

I am looking at laser welding 3003 aluminum tubing for refrigeration systems. The tubes would be placed side-by-side and a laser weld made at the point of contact along the resulting seam. ( cross section looks like: OO  )

I cannot find any details if this can be done autogenously. Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Kevin

Hello Kevin, I am not a laser tech by any means, however I would have to say that you might end up with wall thickness reduction issues if you try to autogenously weld the two tubes together without some sort of filler. If I'm wrong on this, I am certainly here to learn along with everyone else. Best regards, aevald
