Like the title says was it ever prequalified in one of the past editions of D1.1.  I know it's not in the 2006 edition, but I found an old WPS that had A514 gr B listed in a prequalified WPS.

  Thanks, Ray c.

It's listed in the '92 code as Group IV for over 2 1/2" thick and as Group V for 2 1/2" thick and under.

K thanks.  In 2006 A514 is considered a code aproved steel that must be qualified by testing.  So does that mean this old prequalified WPS is no longer any good?

That would really be up to the EOR.  It was valid with an earlier qualification to a previous edition of D1.1, but if your job specs refer you to a specific edition of the code, you are supposed to adhere to that edition.  But again, it would really be up to the EOR.

4.2.1 reads that earlier qualifications that were performed and met the requirements of earlier editions of the code *while those editions were in effect* are still valid and may be used. I hadn't thought about if that applied to prequalified procedures or not.
