Welding Journal for January 2008, page 10. "Now the college's welders are able to learn to work on the nonferrous metal and will be more hirable upon graduation". I always thought, and taught,(still teach), that stainless steel is a ferrous metal; I guess I'm wrong. Also, wouldn't employable be a better term to use than hirable?

For the last few years I've heard tell about this new grade of stainless from a number of welders, but have yet to see any.

Best regards - Al :)

Strictly speaking, the title you quote from Welding Journal mentions a "nonferrous metal", it says nothing that it is a stainless steel.
