This is in regards to an ALuminum welder certification I am trying to fill out.

You will need a copy of D 1.2 Structural  Aluminum (2003)to help me, the other codes won't work.

I can't find the "thickness" qualification range for pipe/ tube for my welder cert.

I had a welder to a PQR for a 3/8" thick alum PLATE in the 1G position.
Table 3.3 Pg 23 lists plate and pipe position, that I got no problem. 1g and pipe is Flat, and per footnote 1, the diamater must be over 24", again no problem.

Table 3.4 pg 24 is the "number and range of thickness qualified."  I don't see pipe listed as an option.
Does this mean he's not certified?
How can table 3.3 say he can weld it in the 1G position, but table 3.4 doesn't list a thickness for a test on plate?

I hope I'm misintrepreting this, any and all help would be appreciated, Thanks  Chris

Chris,

Are you qualifying a WPS or a welder?  Tables 3.3 and 3.4 are for WPS qualification.  Tables 3.7 and 3.8 are for Welder Qualification.

Regards,
Bill

Both.  I had to qualify the procedure.  Then the welder who did the procedure plate is certified as well.

Are you getting at the procedure is qualified to one degree, and the welder to another?
