I have a bad board and need to find two capacitors for it.

Any suggestions on where to get them?

Thanks.

more components than that are going to be faulty. Miller updated the board because of the originals problems. The old part number was 189735, the updated version is 208960 and is $440.72. Innovat Corp can rebuild the board for you for $252.  http://innovatcorp.com/page/u6jq/PRICE_LIST.html

Other than that Allied Electronics might be abole to match you component data:https://www.alliedelec.com/Catalog/Indices/Products.asp

The two capacitors are smoked off of the board. Looks like they overheated from duty use.

For $20 I will try to replace them. If not then we go the new board route.

More than likely it was caused by a short in your gun cable between the power cable and the trigger circuit. This machine ahs a thermostat, that shuts the machine down when duty cycle is reached.

Dumb question here, but arent all capacitors rated for a time period? Wouldnt that be the period of usage?

This will be alot easier, call Miller Electric Tech  920-735-4505 when the operator picks up tell her you have a spectrum 300 you need assistance with. Miller plasma tech can run through the cause for failure of each component on the board.

I have the capacitors in, plugged it in (with no air hookup) and the no air yellow light was illuminated.

Next we drag out the compressor.

Well, never guess it but....I used the cutter for about four hours today. Cut some pieces out of a 65 Impala frame and then cut some pieces out of 1/8" plate and then bent them to fit in the newly cut holes.

Just a little advice for life...when you have a chance to pay $20 and try a fix yourself, do it. Dont call the factory rep who recommends a $400 fix. Sometimes you just get lucky or are good. Most people who do other occupations have no special skills other than practice and maybe some education. Most times you can put your nose in a book then learn for yourself.

In a repair shop, its hard to justify 2 hours labor plus $20 on parts to rebuild a board ($140), you can't offer warranty on. I'd rather send it to Innovat Corp, get it completely rebuilt for $250 and offer a one year warranty.

Id this the same machine you are trying to get a new torch for? Here is what the torch should look like: http://www.millerwelds.com/om/o2210n_mil.pdf

Yes, same machine....

It is working fine, I just prefer a safer looking torch.

So since sometimes things change...Does any one know of a replacement gun/torch that will not put me in the poor house for this Spectrum?

There is an ICE-25C on it. It is beat up pretty bad.

Thanks

Check with Thermal Dynamics. They offer a gun for all those old Millers. You can buy the gun and adapter for around $300.00. (depends where you buy it) A factory Miller Ice torch will set you back $700+.
Another option is Weldmart Online.
