Dear sir/madam:
hello
I'd like to know more about the usage of the E7028 electrode.
I know that this electrode is a low hydrogen one.
I want to ask if it is propper for the joint of the upper plate of the beam to the column or not.
best regards
reza

E7028 is a high deposition (rate) SMAW electode that meets the requirements of a low hydrogen electrode. It is used for flat grooves and flat and horizontal fillet welds. As is the case with all low hydrogen electrodes with limestone based fluxes, it has to be stored in an electrode oven to prevent the acummulation of moisture in the flux covering and the exposure time must be limited because of the hygroscopic properties of the covering. The slag is easily removed if the proper welding parameters are employed. Difficult slag removal is a good indication the welding parameters are incorrectly set.

Why are you wanting to use 7028 and not 7018.  John

The advantage I would expect would be a higher deposition rate in comparison with E7018 in the flat position.

Right. A typical application of E7028 is welding the bottom of storage tanks, either for oil and oil products or water.
