only if it's a downhill test. and don't try to fool anybody. any inspector can look at a root pass and tell if it was welded uphill or downhill.

You need to find out from the test supervisor if it is UP or DH. Ask if he/she has a WPS for the test you are taking. I gave my first test last year and the welder ran DH. I let him retest since I did not explain it first. Best not to assume anything when you are testing for a job.
