Up Topic Welding Industry / Technical Discussions / Stub On Hot tap fitting

Hello All,
We are trying to resolve an issue relating to a special fitting for hot tapping which uses a stub sitting on the carrier pipe and welded. Then a full encirclement sleeve is place and welded off.

The stub-on is at the 12:00 o' clock position and the longitudinial weld of the sleeve is at 12:00 and 6:00 o'clock position. Material grade is ASTM A537 (stub) and API 5L X 60 carrier pipe.
One of the welding professionals has asked for a weld and reweld WPS and then qualified based on the cofigeration - stub onto pipe and sleeve onto stub joint.

Has anyone seen or ever done this type of procedure?

Are you talking about a TD Wiliamson or Mueller fitting(2 inch)? Or a reinforced branch connection?
