Hi
Need some help finding a good tig machine.
Machine will be used for process pipe and some aluminum.(ac/dc)
But mostly carbon and stainless pipe.
Machine will be used heavily and it will be a dry rig.
Thanks for your help

Well that makes sense!

If you are mobil  any of the little inverters... Miller, Lincoln, Thermadyne... that provide 200+ amps Which ever vendor has the best SERVICE in your neck of the woods..... Really, all three of those brands are winners.

I discovered that Miller Dynasty 300 is a really good stick welder too.

If your in the shop environment.. The inverters are still good... But if you are on a tight budget I like Miller Synchrowave 250

It will be used in a shop, mostly used welding pipe, and alittle alum.
looking at the syncrowave 250DX and the 350DX
Thanks

J Both those machines are fine units, if you are going to do big pipe you may want to consider the 350dx give a little more amps to play with.

I also would suggest if your going to be spending the kind fo money it takes to buy one of these units, and your going to be in a shop environment, to go ahead and buy the "Tigrunner" style units with water coolers and water cooled torches....

When those aluminum jobs come in you will be glad you did it.

I've blown three boards out of two Synchrowave 250's and counting. The cheapest repair so far was $650. I'm on a Synchrowave 350 LX right now an it's fine, because it's almost new, but I rarely need mor-e than 220 amps. Mostly tig around 70 - 120 (usually DCEN). Rare gouging or SMAW. So I'm not hard on the machines, other than the eight hours a day run time.

Has anybody used a 300 amp air cooled TIG torch? I have seen them advertised, wonder how flexable the cable/hose assembly is.
