well, a true cool blue lens has a silver tint to the outside and when looking at the weld arc it is blue. if you ever weld with one you won't go back to the 'ole cheapo's. I'm not sure on what you got there root pass. when welding with that lens is the arc blue? if so I need a #10

ive tried those out they are a little bright for me  the 10  and they are really expensive too this welder i know has like 5 of them and i got two of them for him  i  paid one welder 200 for it brand new he said he got it at a flea market from this old man that didn t know what he was selling for 5 dollars right after i gave him the money my  buddy walks up to me and  tells me i  should have bought  it from this tacker  he knew so we walk over there  and sure unuff it was a ao 10 he sold it to me for 85 well what im trying to say is just look  around  old hoods at pawn shops stuff like that  cause you never know  i here dow chemical  used to buy them by the case so if you know any old school welders (retired)that worked at dow they might just have some laying around good luck
