Is there an industry standard specification for stud weld quality/workmanship? Specifically does the specification of a stud weld normal displayed in a torque requirment of the stud after welding?

For structural applications AWS D1.1 has a section on studs, as does AWS D1.2, and AWS D1.6.

They are applicable if the purchase order or other contract document makes reference to them.

There's also AWS C5.4-93, which is Recommended Practices for Stud Welding.

D1.1(2004) auto welded threaded studs get qualified by torque test 7.6.6.2
pre-production testing 7.7.1.4 torque
and if you see any without 360 degree flash on visual inspection or has been repaired, torque it. 7.8.1
torque values are per Fig. 7.3
My 2006 D1.1 is out at the site, I don't recall any changes
