I would like to weld two pieces of A6 together. Could anyone recommend filler metals and procedures?

ASTM A6 is carbon steel of structural quality (carbon content about 0,3%). Any filler metal and procedure suitable for low carbon steel is OK.

To bad its not that simple, if you mean A-6 tool steel. Very high carbon is not welder friendly.

You can weld with many types of filler but a procedure requires more info on what you got, what you gotta do and what you want to end up with.

Can you use Brazing (Silver Solder) instead of welding?
