I just picked up an early 50's SAE 300 with JXD Hercules motor. Motor runs pretty well. Have power to the 120VDC outlet but no weld output.  The machine has been sitting a long while. What would be the best way to test this unit with a volt/ohm meter to determine if the generator will function or if it's junk. I don't want to spend a lot of time cleaning connections etc. if there is a way to utilize a VOM to determine if the important electrical parts are still intact. I don't know what kind of values I should read and where to check point to point. So here I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction. Thanks! I read 000 ohms across the weld output terminals. Is this normal?
