I need to qualify a PQR to B2.1 and was wondering if I need to qualify a separate procedure for the same M-number with different group numbers.
example: A656 M-1 group3 to A588 M-1 group 2
or would A656 to itself be good enough for all M-1 materials?

Also, does anyone have suggestions for preheat and interpass temps on A656 gr. 80  3/8" to 1" thick?

I didn't take the time to look it up, but usually the PQR has to be requalified based on a change in group number only if impact toughness is a requirement. If there are no impact requirements, you requalify if there is a change in M number.

Best regards - Al

Thanks Al, impact toughness is not a requirement!
I will post the preheat requirements according to the EOR tommorrow!

Edit:For A656 gr. 80  plate up to 3/4 inch no preheat required.

3/4 - 1-1/2 preheat to 100 deg F.

Over 1-1/2 preheat to 150 deg F.

Do not exceed 400 deg. F interpass during welding.
