Hi everybody
Pls show me what type of groove can be qualified if I perform qualification procedure with test specimens in single Vee butt weld (groove angle at 60 deg.)

Thank so much,

What code are you using? Some codes do n0t require requalification of a procedure and some do.

Table 4.5 item 31,32, and 33 should refer you to the allowable range for the groove angle.

Thank you
Could you explain me more clearly why type of groove change from single Vee to double Vee.This is essential variable.

I am not sure what you are referring to. What paragraphe are you referring to that indicates changing from a single vee to a double vee is an essential variable?

Also, welcome to the forum.

Remember that AWS talks "groove type" where partial or complete penetration welds are discussed. This would be applied mostly to the details for Partial joint penetration.

Read the last part of the statement of Table 4.5, 31) "except qualification of any CJP groove weld qualifies for any groove detail conforming with the requirements of 3.12 or 3.13". If you qualify a procedure in accordance with Section 4 of D1.1 your procedure could be used for any of the prequalified joint details found in section 3. be sure to make a note in your WPS of this.

There is a missconception that the WPS must have only one joint detail shown, this is incorrect unless specified in contract documents. You can show as many details or make reference to such as will fit the welding perameters used in the WPS.
