There are many power sources that one can weld with, which one is the optimum to weld with and what makes it better.?

The inverter type machines have CV capability but what type of slope do they have?
What is the optimum slope for FCAW welding?  Which slope will provide the most current on demand and the most stable arc?

Which machines will have the best slope characteristics?   And can slope be adjusted in some machines ?  IS there any books or literature to explain the cause and affect of different slope settings.?

CV machines still have some slope to the volt amper curve, but for short circut performanse another factor is inductance. The combination of the 2 governs how the short is cleared, and how much spatter You get.

AWS Welding Handbook Vol. 2 covers this to some extent.

You can see the volt amper curves of  power supplies graphed in thier owners manuals. I find the Miller website the easiest to use.
