I have a question for anyone who knows the answere.  We have certified welders for AWS D10.9 AR-3.  Would this make them certified to Weld on Galvanized pipe?  Is there some kind of special certification that could be obtained?

LOL is right. How many welders have we all seen that swear by the milk for welding galvanized? I never could quite understand how having milk in your stomach could help with zinc fumes in your lungs.

The Zinc is not just in your lungs after you breath it in.  It gets abzorbed into your whole body through your lungs.  Oxygen gets into your blood through your lungs as well as Zinc.  Here is an interesting thread about milk and zinc poisoning. http://www.aws.org/cgi-bin/mwf/topic_show.pl?pid=107267;hl=milk%20zinc%20poisoning
