Is there any new data on the welding of 7075 alum.I've check the search and they think you shouldn't weld it.

The 7xxx series aluminum are not gernally fusion (arc) welded.  However, if your application is suitable, it can be friction stir welded (or other solid state processes)

Usually 7075 is riveted together and not welded and is used a lot in the aerospace industry.  If you arc weld it, it will more then likely crack.

The aluminum alloy 7075 is an alloy of aluminum and zinc. The zinc volatizes during welding and it is the low melting point constituents (zinc included) that is the root of all evil, i.e., cracking.
